Courts grant bail to accused in domestic violence case
A 44-year-old Cospicua man facing attempted murder charges has been released from Corradino prison after a court granted him bail in a separate domestic violence case, despite serious allegations of abuse against his partner and her daughter [1].

New allegations paint troubling picture
In the domestic violence case, Dalli stands accused of slightly injuring his partner, threatening and insulting her, and deliberately damaging her belongings [1]. Prosecutors allege he caused both the woman and her daughter to fear that violence would be used against them during an incident in January, which reportedly occurred in the child's presence [1]. The release comes despite Dalli's existing charges in a far more serious matter. He faces attempted murder allegations linked to an incident in March 2024 at the family home in Triq San Tumas, Marsa [1].
The attempted murder allegations
According to the prosecution, Dalli allegedly attacked his two stepdaughters — one aged 12 and the other aged 15 — leaving the younger girl with multiple stab wounds and in critical condition [1]. The 15-year-old sustained injuries to her hands [1]. A 14-year-old boy present during the incident was not physically harmed but was treated for shock [1].
Dalli had initially been held under preventive custody in connection with the attempted murder charges before being granted bail in December 2024 [1]. He was subsequently returned to custody in January following the domestic violence allegations [1].
