APS Bank's cherished Holy Week concert is making a welcome return next week, bringing together some of Malta's finest musical talent for an evening of sacred reflection. Gioachino Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle will be performed on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary in San Pawl tat-Tarġa, Naxxar, continuing the bank's tradition of presenting spiritually uplifting works during this significant period in the Christian calendar.[1]
The concert represents a collaboration between APS Bank and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, with Michael Laus taking the conductor's baton for the evening. The performance will feature four distinguished soloists: soprano Gillian Zammit, alto Claire Massa, tenor Alan Sciberras, and bass Andrew Louis Cassar, alongside the harmonies of The New Choral Singers.[1]
This year's selection follows last year's successful presentation of Mozart's Requiem in D minor, cementing APS Bank's role as a meaningful patron of cultural and spiritual experiences in Malta. For many Maltese, the concert represents more than just an evening of classical music—it's a chance to pause during the busy Holy Week period and reconnect with both faith and artistic beauty.
"Our Holy Week concert remains an important date in the Bank's cultural calendar. As we prepare for next week's performance of Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, we look forward to welcoming audiences for this shared musical experience," said Liana DeBattista, Chief Strategy Officer at APS Bank.[1]
Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle is a gem of sacred choral music—compact yet profound, combining the composer's characteristic melodic gift with genuine spiritual depth. It's an ideal choice for those seeking a moment of peace and contemplation ahead of Easter celebrations.
Tickets for the concert are now available, and given the popularity of previous APS Bank cultural events, early booking is recommended.[1]
